Recognizing the contribution of women in cybersecurity, we round up our month-long program of member, research, event and video coverage.

Throughout March 2026, ISC2 Insights made women in cybersecurity its focus, combining new research, contributions from key influencers, along with the collective work taking place to support the Global 50x50 Initiative. This month-long program of content showcased the views, challenges, ambitions and successes of women working in the field.

In addition, by drawing on the reflections of women Members, Associates and Candidates across technical, leadership and emerging roles in cybersecurity, we explored what brought them into the field, what keeps them here and what needs to change to create a more inclusive future.

In today’s digital-first world, cybersecurity is one of the most critical and fastest-growing fields across every industry. Skilled cybersecurity professionals are in high demand. Yet for many students, the cost of education remains a significant barrier to entering the field. The Center for Cyber Safety and Education, the charitable arm of ISC2, helps remove financial barriers for students pursuing a degree in cybersecurity.

As part of Women in Cybersecurity Month, we invited our volunteers to a series of questions relating to working in the field. Respondents offered a variety of insights, with particular emphasis on what led them to the industry, what keeps them in the field and why representation matters.

Following her keynote at ISC2 Security Congress, ISC2 Insights spoke to cybersecurity expert Alissa Knight about areas of cyber warfare including AI-originated attacks, API security and threats relating to exploiting machine-to machine interdependencies, as well as her work to bring the world of cybersecurity to the big and small screen.

Research

In recognition of International Women’s Day and International Women’s Month, ISC2 examined the views and experiences of women working in cybersecurity roles. Every year, the ISC2 Cybersecurity Workforce Study assesses the state of the cybersecurity workforce. Alongside the overall findings, we looked at several key indicators by gender, to spotlight the views and contributions of women working in cybersecurity, who remain underrepresented globally.

The Global 50x50 Initiative, powered by the Center for Cyber Safety and Education, is a collective commitment to reaching 50 percent women in cybersecurity by 2050. It marks a significant milestone for the cybersecurity sector. At the center of this movement are organizations and individuals dedicated to empowering women and creating pathways into the cybersecurity profession around the world.
