AI Risk Assessment Express Course

This express course challenges practitioners to evaluate risks in AI systems that do not behave like traditional technology assets. Using the example of a vendor AI model that can drift, produce inconsistent outputs and cannot be fully explained by its creator, learners will threat model the system, score and prioritize its risks using an AI-adapted framework. Then they will defend each classification against a defined risk appetite and stakeholders who may disagree with the outcome.

This scenario-based express course places learners inside a fictional multicloud SaaS company that added AI to its IT support bot and software development pipeline without being able to see how either model works. Learners distinguish AI-specific and AI-amplified risk from traditional software risk, then apply a structured threat modeling framework to inventory the company's assets, threat actors, attack vectors and trust boundaries. Using defined scoring criteria, they analyze and rank three identified risks, testing an initial exposure call against a formal scoring framework built for AI's unpredictability, drift and vendor blind spots. Finally, learners classify each risk against the company’s stated risk appetite, select the control that addresses it and practice defending that classification to a stakeholder pushing for a different outcome.
