AI Bias, Fairness and Model Assurance Express Course
This course places learners in the role of a reviewer evaluating an AI-enabled lending system where aggregate accuracy metrics are insufficient to address fairness concerns. Participants will identify where bias can enter decision-making, analyze disaggregated fairness data instead of relying on headline accuracy scores, and defend a recommendation to continue, restrict or pause the system before applying the same judgment framework to a new AI use case.

This scenario-based course places learners inside a fictional financial services company as the Senior Security and Governance Analyst assigned to investigate a fairness complaint against a mortgage-routing system with no formal fairness-assessment process behind it. Learners differentiate data, representational, process and outcome bias, then work through a series of checkpoints and decision points that build a case. They will examine the model, read group-level fairness testing against overall accuracy, and determine whether the evidence supports continuing, restricting or pausing use. Learners will then defend the call against the possibility of legal or regulatory scrutiny. The exercise transfers the same reasoning to a portfolio of AI-enabled systems, asking learners to prioritize scarce review capacity and apply a full fairness assessment to a newly flagged system using unfamiliar evidence.
Learning Experience:
This course is designed for security and governance analysts, AI/model risk professionals, and compliance or audit professionals responsible for evaluating AI-enabled decision systems for bias, fairness and responsible use, including professionals holding or pursuing CGRC certification who need to assess and defend fairness decisions to regulators, auditors or leadership.
