ISC2 Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 19-25, is a time when ISC2 proudly recognizes the volunteers whose dedication, expertise and generosity of time make a lasting impact across the global cybersecurity community.
Through their service, leadership and willingness to share knowledge, ISC2 volunteers help strengthen cyber resilience, elevate professional standards and protect organizations and communities worldwide. Their contributions support ISC2’s mission and play a vital role in shaping the future of the cybersecurity profession—and for that, we are deeply grateful.
The Impact of ISC2 Volunteers
ISC2 is a member‑driven organization and volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. From sharing real‑world insights on stage to guiding content development behind the scenes, volunteers ensure ISC2 events and programs remain timely, relevant and actionable for our global audience.
One of the many ways professionals give back is through volunteering with the ISC2 Events program, where experts collaborate to deliver high‑quality education experiences year‑round.
Volunteering With ISC2 Events: What You Need to Know
To spotlight the value of volunteering, we asked our Events team to share more about the opportunities available and why they matter.
What volunteer roles are available in Events?
ISC2 Events volunteers can serve in several impactful roles, including:
- In‑person and virtual event or webinar speakers
- ISC2 Security Congress submission reviewers
- ISC2 Security Congress session moderators
- Event Advisory Committee members for major in‑person events such as SECURE events and ISC2 Security Congress
Each role contributes directly to delivering meaningful, high‑quality learning experiences for the cybersecurity community.
How often are volunteers engaged?
Speaking opportunities are available throughout the year, both virtually and in person. Reviewer, moderator and committee roles are offered as needed, aligned with the planning cycles of events like Security Congress and regional SECURE conferences.
What qualifications are required?
There are no absolute prerequisites to volunteer. However, individuals with multiple years of cybersecurity experience are typically selected. Holding one or more ISC2 certifications is a plus, but passion, knowledge and a desire to contribute are just as important.
Why is volunteering important to ISC2’s mission?
Volunteers help ensure ISC2 delivers content that is credible, practical and aligned with the real challenges professionals face today. Their ideas, perspectives and experience reinforce ISC2’s role as a trusted leader in cybersecurity education and professional development.
Why do members find this opportunity rewarding?
Volunteering offers both tangible and professional rewards, including:
- Complimentary registration for select events
- Opportunities to earn CPE credits
- Networking and collaboration with peers and industry leaders
- Visibility and professional growth through speaking and leadership roles
Just as importantly, volunteers have a direct influence on the quality and direction of ISC2 content that benefits members around the world.
