The Unified Body of Knowledge (UBK) project has made great strides towards public release in 2025. As the year has progressed, ISC2 has hosted over 140 volunteer members who have responded to our Request for Comment (RFC), offering their subject matter expertise to this landmark project.

In the latest workshops, our focus has been on the user experience – from revising content and structure to ensuring that the platform will meet the needs of a diverse and growing audience of cybersecurity professionals. Jerrad Dahlager, CISSP shared, “Reviewing and recommending improvements to the content structure has helped me gain a broader understanding of our profession's knowledge landscape. It has been wonderful to contribute to something that will guide both newcomers and seasoned professionals in cybersecurity.”

As we continue to develop the project, we are seeking fresh faces to engage in these industry-defining conversations. The next phase of workshops will begin in July. Hear more on the value of these engagements from participants:

"Contributing to this workshop is deeply meaningful to me, as it allows me to give back to the professional community that has shaped my career. It’s gratifying to know that our collective efforts will help new talent learn from the most relevant and robust resources available. Additionally, this workshop has been an excellent opportunity to demonstrate my subject matter expertise and to engage in thought leadership alongside peers from across the industry." - Praveen Palaniswamy, CISSP

“Participating in the UBK RFC workshop has reinforced the importance of aligning security principles with practical application. It’s been rewarding to help shape guidance that bridges compliance, secure development, and real-world engineering constraints.” - Omar Rodriguez, CISSP

"Participating in the RFC process was a rewarding experience both intellectually and personally. I appreciated the opportunity to contribute to such an important body of knowledge, and it was clear that the work had real-world significance. I perceived it as an opportunity to learn from others in the community that had already contributed, and I found the process incredibly valuable.” - Neil Scrivens, CISSP

All CISSPs in good standing are invited to engage in upcoming workshops. If interested, get started today by completing the ISC2 Volunteer Form. Not only will you expand your knowledge and network, ISC2 members can earn up to 21 CPE credits while investing in the future of the association and the greater cybersecurity profession.
