The field of cybersecurity is always evolving, and so are the security engineering principles and processes that develop and secure systems. To maintain the accuracy, relevance, and excellence of ISC2 exams, we regularly conduct Job Task Analysis (JTA) studies to review and update exam outlines. JTAs are a methodical process used to determine tasks that are performed in the field by current credential holders, as well as the knowledge and skills required to execute those tasks successfully.

This review process is continual for all ISC2 certifications, resulting in regular updates to exams and exam outlines. An ISSEP JTA Workshop is tentatively scheduled for February 3-5, 2026.

As we prepare for this workshop, we would like to hear from all active ISSEP certification holders. To assist in this process, we are asking for individuals who hold the ISSEP to review the current ISSEP exam outline and consider the following questions:

  1. Do you believe that the current ISSEP exam outline adequately covers the existing and emerging cybersecurity techniques and threats ISSEP practitioners are facing in their jobs today?
  2. If not, what sort of topics/content should be added to the ISSEP exam outline?
  3. What content currently on the ISSEP exam outline is no longer relevant to today’s professionals?

Please send your answers to these questions to issepjta@isc2.org no later than January 12, 2026. Please include your member ID # in your email. Your comments will be compiled and presented to the JTA Committee.
