Last year, ISC2 introduced a series of new resources and program enhancements designed to empower our global network of ISC2 Chapters. These additions, including the pilot launch of the Chapter Member Management System (CMMS), the introduction of nine Chapter Regional Management Committees, and the release of new tools such as the Chapter Playbook and Chapter Mentor Guide, have created a strong foundation for the next phase of chapter support and growth.
As we move into 2026, ISC2 is committed to building upon this momentum with new initiatives, expanded programs, and improved operational support for chapter leaders and volunteers around the world.
Recently, a panel of ISC2 Chapter Leaders spoke to ISC2 Insights about the importance of these new enhancements and the role chapters play in the success of cybersecurity professionals and the industry. Hear from ISC2 Chapter leaders from around the world as they share the importance of ISC2 Chapters.
Sharon Kelley, CISSP, CCSP, New Jersey Chapter, explains that the new technology will streamline the chapter administration process and make it easier and more consistent to improve member engagement for all chapters.
Chapters are important in serving ISC2 members and cybersecurity professionals worldwide. Ryan Sydlik, CISSP, Pittsburg Chapter, says that being a chapter leader helped him personally by connecting him with other professionals, providing educational opportunities, and bringing him to events like ISC2 Security Congress. Now he has become a mentor to other ISC2 chapter leaders.
If you have not become an ISC2 Chapter member yet, you can find a chapter near you to join. If you would like to become an ISC2 Chapter leader at your ISC2 Chapter, Marvin Stein, CISSP, NYC and Long Island Chapter, encourages others to ask where they can help, explain that they’re willing to learn new roles, reach out to others at meetings and then they’ll be on their way to becoming a volunteer leader and helping their local chapter.
Sujit Christy, CISSP, Sri Lanka Chapter, inspires chapter leaders to find new volunteers to help lighten the load of tasks like putting on events and meetings. He says it helps with the mentor process and encourages the next generation of leadership.
They all agreed that chapters are the voice and representation in the local community to assist cybersecurity professionals and the global workforce connecting people and bringing in new professionals to the industry.
Strengthening Chapter Support Worldwide – Looking Back at 2025
Pilot Phase of the Chapter Member Management System
The CMMS pilot provided participating chapters with a simpler way to manage membership, communicate with chapter communities, and streamline administrative tasks. Early feedback has been essential in shaping the system for its broader roll-out in 2026.
Nine Chapter Regional Management Committees
To provide more localized support and guidance, ISC2 established nine committees across key regions. These committees have played a crucial role in fostering collaboration, addressing regional needs and guiding chapter development.
New Resources: Chapter Playbook and Mentor Guide
Two core resources, the Chapter Playbook and the Chapter Mentor Guide, were launched to provide chapter leaders with clearer guidance on best practices, operational standards, event planning and sustainable leadership development.
Legal Registration Support for North America Chapters
ISC2 supported legal registration for chapters in North America to ensure strong governance, compliance and stability for the years ahead. This milestone paves the way for similar efforts across other regions.
Chapter Recognition Program
The new Chapter Recognition Program will be introduced to celebrate excellence, highlight impactful chapter initiatives and elevate the visibility of outstanding volunteer leadership.
What is to Come in 2026: Continuing to Empower Chapters Globally
ISC2’s commitment to supporting chapters remains stronger than ever. For 2026, the following initiatives will continue or expand as part of our ongoing investment in the chapter experience.
Roll-out of the Chapter Member Management System
Following the successful pilot phase, ISC2 will launch the CMMS to all chapters. This system will become the hub for chapter administration, enhancing transparency, accuracy and efficiency for leaders and members alike.
Provisioning of Zoom Licenses to All Chapters
To ensure chapters can host virtual meetings, webinars and hybrid events without barriers, ISC2 will provide Zoom licenses to every chapter. This resource is intended to enhance professional development opportunities and strengthen member engagement regardless of location.
Implementation of the Chapter Recognition Program
The Chapter Recognition Program will move into full implementation, offering structured acknowledgments, awards and visibility opportunities for chapters demonstrating exceptional impact, innovation and commitment to the cybersecurity community.
Legal Registration Support for Chapters Across the Globe
Building on the successful North America initiative, ISC2 is exploring options for legal registration assistance for chapters in the rest of the world. This effort aims to strengthen global governance and ensure long‑term chapter stability.
Community Impact Initiatives
ISC2, alongside its nonprofit the Center for Cyber Safety and Education, will also continue to support and empower chapters to make meaningful contributions within their local communities through outreach, education, workforce development and cybersecurity awareness activities.
Chapter Relief Fund
To help chapters facing unforeseen challenges or financial hardship, ISC2 is studying the creation of a Chapter Relief Fund. This initiative would provide additional support to ensure chapters can maintain operations and continue serving members through difficult periods.
Looking Ahead, A Strong Future for ISC2 Chapters
ISC2 chapters are vital to building strong, local cybersecurity communities. The initiatives planned for 2026 are focused on strengthening chapter capability, elevating member experiences and creating more consistent, high‑quality support worldwide.
By expanding resources, improving infrastructure and recognizing excellence, ISC2 is dedicated to ensuring chapter leaders have what they need to thrive and continue advancing our global mission of inspiring a safe and secure cyber world.
