The two-day event will kick off with Debra Taylor (Acting CEO & CFO, ISC2) welcoming the audience and setting the tone of collaboration, innovation, and forward momentum. You’ll hear from Chapter leaders from more than a dozen chapters globally representing New Jersey, Florida, Paris, Sri Lanka, Mexico City, Kenya and more as they share lessons learned and inspire attendees to reimagine what a local cybersecurity community can accomplish. Here’s a look at the agenda and a few action items you can expect to take back to your own chapter.

9:00 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.

Welcome Address

Debra Taylor, Acting CEO and CFO of ISC2, will start things off by underscoring ISC2’s commitment to chapters as the beating heart of our global network. She will challenge leaders to think beyond events—to build communities that educate, empower, and elevate every member’s potential. 

9:20 a.m. – 10:20 a.m.

Delegation and Succession Planning

Ken Fishkin (NJ Chapter) and James McQuiggan (Central Florida Chapter) will layout a blueprint for continuity: 

  • Map out clear roles and overlap in responsibilities 
  • Document processes and maintain an “institutional memory” 
  • Invite emerging leaders into small, manageable tasks before they take on larger roles

Beyond the Badge: Building Chapter Engagement Through Purpose, Partnership, and People

Renata Vincoletto and Neil Breden (East of England Chapter) will share a case study on their Women in STEM partnership with Anglia Ruskin University. Key learnings: 

  • Purpose: Craft a chapter mission that resonates at all career stages 
  • Partnership: Collaborate with academia, nonprofits, and industry to widen your talent pipeline 
  • People: Launch mentorship tracks that spotlight neurodiverse and under-represented voices, ensuring fresh perspectives drive your chapter forward

Chapter Engagement Opportunities to Increase Inclusion

Emma King, Beth Paredes, Dwan Jones and Holly Schneider Brown, members of the ISC2 team, will provide strategies for chapter leaders to encourage development, inclusion and engagement within chapters and the cybersecurity industry as part of ISC2’s commitment to growing the profession and supporting underrepresented populations.

Chapter Operations: Requirements, Decisions, And Challenges, Oh My

Walter Speelman (Central Florida Chapter) will dive into the tech and tools that make chapter management a breeze: membership databases, event-registration platforms, automated newsletters, and budget-tracking spreadsheets. 

Panel: Building a Movement—BSides Tampa’s Volunteer-Powered Growth

Michael Rogers, Elvira Reyes, and Joshua Grose all from the Tampa Bay Chapter will give a behind the scenes look at how the conference BSides Tampa grew to 2,300 attendees with the support from a community effort through: 

  • Volunteer Empowerment: 100+ volunteers organized into 13 planning leads 
  • Sponsor Relations: 58 sponsors secured to keep ticket prices flat for 10 years 
  • Program Diversity: Keynotes, workshops, capture-the-flag challenges, and hands-on labs

Building Resilient Chapters: Lessons in Leadership, Collaboration, and Community from the ISC2 Global Network

Dr. Stanley Mwangi Chege (Kenya Chapter) and Helmi Ben Hmida (Paris Chapter) will host an interactive session sharing practical lessons from diverse regions and exploring strategies: 

  • Localizing Global Best Practices: Adapt ISC2’s Chapter resources to local norms and cultures
  • Leadership Continuity: Overlap outgoing and incoming chapter leaders to help with consitency
  • Regional Alliances: Partner with neighboring chapters to co-host events and share speakers

ISC2 Board Member May Brooks-Kempler will encourage chapters and their members to be more than networking hubs and embrace the mission of ISC2 to create a more safe and secure cyber world.

Ed Parsons, VP of Global Markets and Member Relations at ISC2, will start off the second day of this virtual session with a vision of the future of ISC2 Chapters and how you can drive global impact. Expect big ideas, a roadmap for engagement and inspiration to kickstart your morning!

9:35 a.m. – 10:35 a.m.

Attracting Sponsors: How to Maximize Your Resources to Get Noticed

Ken Fishkin (NJ Chapter) and Raphael Adeyemo (Toronto Chapter) will explain how they achieved a win-win partnership with vendors. They’ll explain their approaches, value propositions and event formats that make sponsors eager to invest in your local chapter events.

Facilitating Effective Study Groups 

Ryan Sydlik (Pittsburgh Chapter) shares how they successfully implemented a study group in their local area to help individuals obtain their CISSP. You’ll have a blueprint for creating your own study group and see the benefits of these mentorship opportunities and the long-term impact on your chapter, local community, and the cybersecurity profession. 

The Ripple Effect: How Mentoring Ignites Growth in the ISC2 Chapter Ecosystem

Sujit Christy (Sri Lanka Chapter) and Jorge Osorio (Mexico City Chapter) will break down how mentoring groups can spark exponential growth. Learn from their mentoring template to help your program create further reach and retention of chapter members.

AED for ISC2 Chapters: Shocking Life Into Your Membership

Ronald Woerner and Bruce Wray will lead an interactive case study on how the Omaha-Lincoln Chapter revived its chapter post-pandemic. Through education, empowerment and engagement programs, they rebuilt membership and forged a culture of continuous learning.

They’ll present a case study sharing their challenges faced, solutions implemented, and lessons learned. Attendees will walk away with practical strategies and tactical ideas for revitalizing their cybersecurity community. 

Chapter Cohesion and Resilience

Anna Pasupathy (Silicon Valley Chapter) will explain how to build a thriving chapter even with limited resources through two core elements: cohesion and accountability. With Anna’s “Do’s and Don’ts” framework, you’ll have concise, actionable strategies to strengthen your chapter and how to clarify roles, set shared goals and maintain momentum with minimal resources. 

Welcome In: Helping Members Find Their Place and Purpose

Sharon Kelley (New Jersey Chapter) shares the NJ Chapter’s onboarding playbook, which activates new members with opportunities for connection, contribution and community – fostering a culture of inclusion, purpose, and volunteer-driven success.
