Largest university in Croatia to incorporate ISC2 official courseware into its cybersecurity curriculum, including thorough review of the key domains evaluated by the CISSP certification exam

Clearwater, FL, February 12, 2021 – ISC2 – the world’s largest nonprofit association of certified cybersecurity professionals – announced a collaboration with the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Organization and Informatics, Croatia, to deliver a more comprehensive cybersecurity curriculum through ISC2 International Academic Program (IAP).

Through the IAP, ISC2 works with academic and higher education institutions worldwide to support cybersecurity curriculum and course development, as well as the teaching activities for cyber, information, infrastructure and software security. The IAP has been developed to equip students and teaching staff with up-to-date cybersecurity skills and understanding. The program provides access to the professional knowledge maintained by ISC2’s certified membership of practicing professionals. The University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Organization and Informatics will provide students with accredited, instructor-led education courses that review the relevant domains of the CISSP, the world-renowned cybersecurity certification.

“The cybersecurity sector needs more people and more places where they can develop the skills needed to become professionals. With a global skills gap of more than 3.1 million and a EMEA gap in excess of 168,000, cultivating academic interest and developing more individuals to take on rewarding careers in the sector is a matter of paramount economic and operational importance,” said Deshini Newman, managing director EMEA, ISC2. “Working closely with the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Organization and Informatics is an opportunity for us both to shape the direction and standard of cybersecurity education at a formative stage, ensuring it is appropriate for the needs of society and conforms to the highest standards.”

“In the creation of new study programs, the Faculty of Organization and Informatics recognizes that employers demand quality staff and works closely with industry representatives. Seeing the need for education and technical certification in cybersecurity, we modernized our Information Systems Security and Auditing Management specialist postgraduate study program. We have enhanced our program by incorporating education that aligns to the domains covered by the CISSP, the world's leading cybersecurity certification,” said Professor Nina Begičević Ređep, Dean of the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Organization and Informatics. “Information security professionals are the most desired specialists in any company and must have comprehensive knowledge of IT, as well as specialized information security skills. We want to train our students to undertake the most responsible roles in cybersecurity.”
