ISC2 Quantum Transition Task Force

The ISC2 Quantum Security Task Force will guide cybersecurity professionals on the migration to quantum-resistant cryptography and developing crypto agility.

Purpose

Cryptanalytically Relevant Quantum Computers (CQRC) - which threaten existing cryptographic algorithms - are estimated to be available in the next decade. Migrating to Post Quantum Cryptographic (PQC) technologies is complex and standards will continue to evolve. ISC2, the world’s leading cybersecurity professional organization, is delighted to announce the formation of a Task Force to advise on migration to quantum-resistant cryptography and developing crypto agility. Task Forces are a critical forum for our membership association: they provide expert advice and insights into the needs of cyber security professionals and communities worldwide. They also connect ISC2 with influential organizations, bodies, and institutions within governments and industry.

Responsibilities

The Task Force will discuss and make non-binding recommendations to ISC2 transition to quantum-resistant cryptography including:

  • Propose items of guidance, approaches and policy formulation
  • Develop and promote content for the benefit of cybersecurity professionals
  • Identify ways to improve or expand ISC2 training content
  • Identify potential partners within industry, government and academia to advance state of the art
  • Identify user groups and associations that ISC2 should consider for potential cooperation.
  • Represent ISC2 as a speaker and subject matter expert at public events.
  • Task Force members will also serve as the "eyes and ears" of ISC2 in their sphere of expertise to reflect comments, ideas, and enquiries from the information security profession.
