ISC2 Code TaskForce

Drawing from the insights and experiences of our community, the ISC2 Code Taskforce is working together to develop a refreshed ISC2 Code of Professional Conduct and an updated ISC2 Code Enforcement Program. Our goal is to create standards that are relevant, enforceable, and set clear, foundational expectations for ethical conduct within the cybersecurity profession.

Purpose

ISC2 Code TaskForce members will serve a critical role in meeting objectives behind the development, launch and adoption of the re-envisioned ISC2 Code and accompanying ISC2 Code Enforcement Program. Their participation helps ensure the program:

  • Sets expectations for foundational professional behavior and conduct for ISC2 members, candidates, and associates.
  • Is forward-thinking, addressing real-world cybersecurity ethical and professional challenges.
  • Promotes a culture of ethical and professional conduct within the industry.
  • Drives accountability and transparency through an enforcement framework.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Feedback on Development
    • Review and provide feedback, perspective and input on draft documentation, resources, and materials to ensure applicability and relevance to the cybersecurity profession.
  • Represent Stakeholder Interest
    • Represent the interests and concerns of the cybersecurity profession, ensuring that the program addresses a wide range of ethical and professional conduct related topics that are relevant to the different roles across the profession.
  • Advising on Enforcement
    • Provide feedback on how best to enforce the ISC2 Code offering insights into practical enforcement mechanisms and practices that will be fair and consistent.
  • Serving as ISC2 Code Ambassadors
    • Serve as champions of the ISC2 Code by driving awareness, buy-in and engagement throughout the cybersecurity community. Help to foster a culture within the profession of accountability and integrity.
    • Participate and partner with ISC2 in ad-hoc awareness activities.
  • Ongoing Feedback, Review and Updates
    • Participate in periodic reviews of the program to ensure it remains forward-thinking and up to date with new regulations, industry changes and evolving ethical challenges.
    • Respond to feedback mechanisms such as focus groups or surveys to help measure effectiveness.

Skills Required

  • Must hold an ISC2 certification and be a member in good standing.
  • Proven expertise and experience in the cybersecurity profession.
  • Desire to engage and provide feedback on experiences, best practices and solutions for challenges relating to professional conduct, ethical and other non-technical areas within the cyber security profession.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, as well as attention to detail.
  • Passion for advancing the global cyber security profession through learning and development.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical and editorial standards.
  • ISC2 Code Taskforce membership is a yearlong commitment.

Training

Some training may be recommended.


Time Requirement

ISC2 Code Taskforce membership is a yearlong commitment, with appointments lasting one calendar year.

Upon appointment, participation expectations include attending meetings, contributing to discussions, and fulfilling action items. Due to the highly visible nature of this project, if members do not or cannot meet expectations, appointments will be rescinded, and a new member will be selected from the candidate pool.

Once formed, the ISC2 Code Taskforce will schedule a series of standing bi-weekly, 90-minute meetings. Members may be provided with requests or materials prior to and/or after meetings for their review, input, action, and feedback. Meeting frequency is expected to reduce later in the calendar year as the ISC2 Taskforce meets objectives. Communication with members will be frequent and timely to ensure awareness of any changes.

No travel is required.

CPE Credit(s)

CPEs will be issued quarterly, based on meeting attendance and work produced.


CPE Submission Process

ISC2 will submit CPE credits on behalf of the volunteer.
