I am running for the ISC2 Board so that the breadth of our global membership is reflected in how our organization is governed.
I am Peruvian, American, and Swiss. I work in English and Spanish, and my career has carried me through nine countries on four continents and across five industries, from government to global banking to manufacturing. That range shapes how I think about an organization whose members span every region on earth.
My path began in 2004 at the United States National Security Agency, where I spent twelve years in cyber operations and threat intelligence. From there I helped build the cybersecurity advisory practice at PwC Switzerland, led global cyber detection and response at Siemens, and served as Managing Director and Global Head of Cyber Operations at UBS. Today I lead CyberOps Advisory in Zürich, advising boards and executives and coaching senior security leaders. Alongside this work, I lecture in cybersecurity at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences, and as a former member of the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on Quantum Computing, I helped shape its guidance on quantum security.
The next three years will test ISC2 in ways the last three did not. If elected, I will focus on two things. First, keeping our certifications and skills frameworks aligned to what practitioners actually face: AI-enabled threats, the post-quantum transition, and the operational realities of stretched security teams. Second, bringing a perspective that comes from a truly global career into ISC2's governance, with a steady commitment to ensuring underrepresented regions are heard.
A career that began in national service has only deepened my desire to serve. If you would like to know more about me and my platform, please visit markbarwinski.com.
I would be honored to earn your vote.
