(ISC)² Managing Director EMEA Deshini Newman Named a SC Media Woman of Influence in Cybersecurity

List of 30 leading women in cybersecurity celebrates the contribution of women to the sector and their particular work in the last year in the face of COVID-19 business and industry challenges

London, February 25, 2021 – (ISC)² – the world’s largest nonprofit association of certified cybersecurity professionals – today revealed that Deshini Newman, the organization’s managing director for EMEA, has been recognized in the 2021 SC Media Women of Influence in Cybersecurity list. It is the second time that Newman has been recognized by SC Media in its Women of Influence list.

Recognizing achievements throughout security, this year’s list pays particular attention to the impact of COVID-19 – on businesses, on career development and on the wider cybersecurity landscape. The individuals who work in cybersecurity have seen their roles become more central to their organizations’ success since the first national lockdowns. The list recognizes the specific efforts and initiatives spearheaded by women in the sector, including the vital collaboration necessary to maintain professional development opportunities for cybersecurity professionals in a time of considerable change and disruption.

For the list, Newman was recognized for her involvement in increasing recognition for the CISSP certification and for supporting (ISC)² members and the wider cybersecurity sector throughout the disruption of 2020.

“The SC Media Women of Influence in Cybersecurity list is a celebration of the importance of diversity and the positive impact that women are having in our industry, as well as the important role they are playing in mentoring others and encouraging more women to start or progress a cybersecurity career,” said Deshini Newman, managing director EMEA, (ISC)². “I am honored to be recognized alongside these outstanding women leaders. During a time of considerable disruption and change, I was fortunate to lead a team of dedicated professionals focused on advancing the profession and advocating for our members.”

“The achievements of everyone on SC's Women of Influence list are inspiring. These women, including Deshini Newman, are responsible for pushing the sector in a wholly positive direction. And in the most challenging times, it seems they have set their ambitions higher than ever. Congratulations to Deshini, the team at (ISC)² and everyone on the list – we can't wait to see what they're going to achieve in the next 12 months,” said Edward Craig, acting editor of SC Media UK.
