(ISC)² Professional Development Institute Honored With 2020 D2L Excellence Award

PDI program celebrates first anniversary after introducing 35 on-demand courses to drive member value

Clearwater, FL, April 16, 2020 – (ISC)² – the world’s largest nonprofit association of certified cybersecurity professionals – today announced that it has been awarded a 2020 D2L Excellence Award for its launch of the Professional Development Institute (PDI). The honor comes on the heels of the first anniversary of PDI, a portfolio of timely and relevant continuing education courses that help keep cybersecurity professionals’ skills sharp and curiosity piqued.

35 on-demand courses have now been introduced and are available to (ISC)² members and associates at no additional cost, representing more than $10,000 in combined value and more than 100 continuing professional education (CPE) credit opportunities. At the conclusion of 2019, nearly 20,000 unique members had completed courses at a total value equivalent to more than $7.9 million in educational content.

The wide range of topic areas addressed by PDI include securing the Internet of Things (IoT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Containers, Privacy Regulations, Cyber Insurance, Mobile Security, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, as well as building skills such as Penetration Testing, Malware Analysis, Interpersonal Skills, Cloud Basics, Communication with the C-Suite, Responding to a Breach, Gaining Support for Your Security Program and Incident Management. A new course on Utilizing Big Data was recently added.

The D2L Excellence Awards recognize educators, trainers, and leaders in learning engagement that have leveraged the D2L learning platform to deliver learning experiences that are innovative, collaborative or have made an extraordinary impact on learning outcomes. These awards celebrate inspiration and innovation in digital education and learning and development.

In a communication to winners, Barry Dahl, head of the judging committee for D2L, stated: “Congratulations to (ISC)² for their wonderful and important work in cybersecurity education. I’ve personally been involved in this awards process for many years, and this group of nominations was one of the most competitive that I’ve ever seen.”

(ISC)² is one of just five honorees this year and will share the story behind PDI at the D2L Fusion 2020 Conference in July as part of a breakout session.

“Our members are constantly searching for ways to update and improve their skills as the cybersecurity landscape shifts around them,” said (ISC)² Education Director Mirtha Collin. “PDI is one way we provide value to members by harnessing the collective expertise of our association in order to deliver world-class learning opportunities that keep them up to speed on areas that will help them advance in their careers and better protect the organizations they support. We appreciate the recognition from D2L and look forward to sharing more of the PDI story at D2L Fusion 2020 later this year.”
