(ISC)² Appoints Eight New Members to its U.S. Government Advisory Council

Federal cyber executives will provide insight and advice on the needs of an increasingly diverse profession
 
 
Alexandria, VA, August 30, 2016(ISC) (“ISC-squared”) today announced it has appointed eight new members to its U.S. Government Advisory Council (USGAC). The diverse group of new council members will be introduced at the USGAC’s year-end meeting in Alexandria, Virginia, on December 8, 2016. They are as follows:
 
-- Devon Bryan, CISSP, CISA, CIPP US/EU, EVP chief information security officer (CISO), Federal Reserve and co-founder and president of International Consortium of Minority Cybersecurity Professionals (ICMCP) 
-- Renee M. Forney, CISSP, acting deputy CIO of cybersecurity, Department of Energy
-- Stephanie L. Keith, CISSP, chief, Cyber Workforce Strategy & Policy Division, Department of Defense 
-- Shaun Khalfan, CISSP, CEH, Security+, GISP, chief systems security officer, Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security
-- Christopher Lowe, CISSP, PMP, SES, CISO, Department of Agriculture
-- Christina Phibbs, CISSP, lead cyber security engineer, MITRE Corporation

“Since 2003, (ISC)2’s advisory councils have provided in-depth insights into the needs of cyber, information, software and infrastructure security professionals and communities worldwide,” said Dan Waddell, CISSP, CAP, PMP, USGAC chair, (ISC)² managing director, North America Region, and director, U.S. Government Affairs. “We are at a unique time in the USGAC's history where many long-standing members have retired from government and must move off the Council, affording us the opportunity to fill these vacancies. I am confident in this group’s collective ability to represent the needs of an increasingly diverse workforce as we endeavor to build and nurture the rapid growth of cybersecurity within government.”
 
This distinguished group of volunteer advisors provides insight and advice to the (ISC)2 executive management team on government policies and programs that affect the cybersecurity profession and on certifications for U.S. cybersecurity professionals. Additionally, it sponsors community outreach initiatives such as the (ISC)2Government Information Security Leadership Awards (GISLAs), the (ISC)2U.S. Government Advisory Council Executive Writers Bureau (GAC EWB) and the CyberSecureGov annual training event.
 
The (ISC)2 USGAC is one of several (ISC)2 advisory councils representing cybersecurity professionals worldwide. Other councils advise on cybersecurity workforce issues specific to North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia-Pacific.
