Cycubix Joins Engineers Ireland Register of Training Providers to Offer (ISC)² Official Information Security Training

Cyber, information, software and infrastructure security courses scheduled from September 2016

Dublin, Ireland, 06 July 2016 – Engineers Ireland members can now update and enhance their information security knowledge with the addition of (ISC)²® Official Training Provider Cycubix to the Engineers Ireland Register of Training Providers. The newly Continuing Professional Development (CPD) approved (ISC)² certifications are recognised and respected in the information security industry and, as technologies and threats continue to evolve, ensure that members can upskill on the best practices needed to protect sensitive and valuable corporate information.

A lack of qualified information security professionals is causing difficulties for organisations facing greater volumes and sophistication of threats. According to the 2015 (ISC)2 Global Information Security Workforce Study, a survey of almost 14,000 information security professionals globally, 62 percent of respondents report that their organisations have too few security professionals. Over a quarter (26 percent) of respondents cited a lack of security engineers – those responsible for planning and design.  Further 45 percent of the hiring managers within the survey cited difficulty in finding qualified security professionals as the key factor preventing organisations from hiring. Keeping security best practices and procedures in line with constantly evolving threats requires a commitment to continuing education.

Engineers Ireland recognises the importance of CPD in maintaining and raising members’ professional standards and supplements the core Engineers Ireland CPD programme with relevant and high-standard learning opportunities.

“Continuing Professional Development is essential for professional engineers, allowing them to maintain and develop their knowledge, expertise and experience in an environment of rapidly changing technology. We’re delighted to work with Cycubix to supplement our core CPD programme, which ensures that we provide the most relevant learning opportunities to our members to develop their knowledge and skills in the development and management of a comprehensive information security strategy,” says Dee Kehoe, Engineers Ireland CPD Director. “The training courses offered by Cycubix focus on the critical areas needed to develop and protect systems and data – helping engineering professionals and their employers keep pace with ever changing requirements of information security.”

“All organisations face a persistent and significant risk with regards to the security of their information,” said Fabio Cerullo, Cycubix Managing Director. “Empowering engineering professionals with the latest knowledge and relevant skills is essential to understanding and managing this risk. (ISC)² certifications are recognised and respected in the industry and we are excited to offer Engineering Ireland members this high-quality training to enrich their information security strategies.”

Faisal Malik, Head of Business Development, EMEA at (ISC)² commented: “This agreement reflects an acknowledgement of how important it is to design security into so much of what we do today as our economy becomes ever more connected. Engineers have a key role to play in this effort and we are proud that our Official Training Provider, Cycubix, is able to support the members of Engineers Ireland with the rigours of formal certification in this area.”
