When Kwadjo Nyante, CISSP received his first scholarship from the Center for Cyber Safety & Education in 2016, he was focused on building a future in cybersecurity. What he did not know at the time was that the opportunity would help launch a journey that would take him from scholarship recipient to Chief Information Security Officer, industry award winner, and eventually a trustee of the Center itself.

Originally from Ghana, Nyante always had the talent and determination to pursue a career in cybersecurity. After graduating at the top of his computer engineering class, he was accepted into a competitive master's program in Europe. Although the program offered partial funding, he still needed support to make it possible. In 2016, the Center for Cyber Safety & Education awarded Nyante an ISC2 Graduate Scholarship. A second ISC2 Graduate Scholarship followed in 2017, giving him the opportunity to complete his education and begin building the career he had worked so hard to achieve.

"The support from the foundation has been fantastic," Nyante says. "All this wouldn't have been possible without the start from the Center."

Those scholarships helped create momentum and he further leveraged that support to earn his CISSP certification, complete two master's degrees and an MBA, and built a successful cybersecurity career.

Within five years, he advanced from Junior Security Engineer to Chief Information Security Officer before the age of 30. Along the way, he earned recognition as a Top 50 CISO and received the ISC2 Global Achievement Award.

But Nyante’s story is not only about personal achievement. It is about the impact that one opportunity can have on an entire community.

"There's this network effect, or avalanche effect, where you give one person a scholarship. That person also brings 10 people into cybersecurity. Those 10 people each bring 10, and you have a growing community of cybersecurity enthusiasts," he said.

Today, Nyante continues to give back to the profession and the organization that helped launch his career. He has contributed to ISC2 advisory work in Europe and now serves on the Board of Trustees for the Center for Cyber Safety & Education where he’s dedicated to providing access to cyber to more individuals like himself.

His experience continues to shape his commitment to expanding access for others.

“A better cyber world is what keeps me motivated,” Nyante says. “I have personally experienced what it means to have ability but not always have access to opportunity. That is why I care so deeply about helping people with talent gain access to education, skills, and pathways to improve the cybersecurity realm.”

That motivation now extends beyond his own career. As cybersecurity enters a new era shaped by AI, automation, and increasingly complex digital risks, Nyante is focused on helping people and organizations see risks earlier, build safer systems, and make cybersecurity more understandable and accessible.

“For me, the goal is not only to succeed personally,” he says. “It is to help create a cyber world where more people are included, more organizations are protected, and more communities can benefit from the opportunities this profession creates.”

Nyante’s journey reflects what can happen when talent is matched with opportunity. A scholarship opened a door. What followed was education, certification, leadership, service, and a commitment to helping others succeed.
