Using artificial intelligence (AI) within an organization brings with it the need to balance the quest for innovation and progress with responsible and ethical use. ISC2 has developed a new course to support professionals in developing their skills and knowledge to effectively manage these demands.

Balancing AI innovation with responsible use in cybersecurity requires a deft hand and up-to-date knowledge. Particularly as recent ISC2 research revealed that 30% of respondents have already integrated AI tools into their cybersecurity operations, with a further 42% actively evaluating and testing. Together, these findings underline the pace of AI change within critical organization functions.

The uptick in AI adoption requires a cybersecurity professional to navigate between rapid technological progress and the methodical, regulated requirements of ethical and legitimate application. These challenges include preventing bias, protecting privacy and ensuring accountability in complex business critical systems. Regional data regulations and competitive needs further complicate AI adoption. Collectively, these actualities emphasise the need for cybersecurity professionals and stakeholders to have a firm grasp of the skills and know-how needed to successfully execute and maintain AI system deployments without compromising legitimate use and best practice.

ISC2 has responded to this need with a new express course focused on navigating the needs of progress with appropriate application of AI technology.

Balancing Innovation with Responsible AI Use Express Course

This new course considers how to navigate the complex balance between implementing AI and maintaining an effective and compliant security program. Different AI paradigms have unique ethical and governance implications that must be thoroughly examined in relation to evolving principles and frameworks for responsible use.

The course covers topics including important elements of AI and machine learning (ML), software security, program management, as well as governance, risk and compliance (GRC).

The Express Course is designed for cybersecurity professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of the unique challenges and considerations involved in implementing responsible AI practices. Completion of the course within the 60-day window will earn a digital Validation of Completion and 1 CPE credit. Both existing and new AI practitioners will benefit, as the course requires no prerequisite knowledge beyond a familiarity with AI concepts and core principles. The Express Course is available for $23, or $19 for ISC2 members and associates.

Sustaining trust in AI depends on advancing the technology while maintaining fairness, transparency and responsibility through training and education.
