Are you ready to take the next step in your career and earn your CISSP certification? Or are you a cyber newcomer and ISC2 Candidate, looking to take the free Certified in Cybersecurity exam? No matter where you are in your career, or which ISC2 exam you’re looking to take, it’s important to note that there have been some updates to the process recently. As part of ISC2's ongoing technology transformation, a new ISC2 Dashboard was launched in April 2025, which impacts the exam purchase and scheduling process.
If you know which ISC2 exam you’re ready to take, keep reading! If you don’t know which ISC2 credential is right for you, stop and visit https://www.isc2.org/certifications to review the portfolio of options and take the quick quiz to help you along the way.
Step One: Purchasing Your ISC2 Exam
Log in to your ISC2 account – if you don’t have one, create one – and navigate to the page for the certification exam you want to take. You can click on “Certification” in the top menu of the website to see all 9 credentials in the ISC2 portfolio.
Once on the page of the certification you want to earn, you’ll see the option to purchase the exam on the right side. You might see the option to buy the exam with the ISC2 Peace of Mind offer , if it is available. Make your selection and click “Add to Cart.” You’ll see your Minicart on the page, and can decide if you want to purchase training , or if not – click “Go to Cart & Checkout.”
If you're taking the Certified in Cybersecurity exam for free – as a part of the ISC2 pledge to certify one million people in cybersecurity – there are a few different steps here. Check out FREE Entry-level Cybersecurity Training + Certification Exam to learn more.
If You’ve Already Purchased Your ISC2 Exam
If you’ve already purchased an ISC2 exam – either with Peace of Mind protection, or via a voucher from a training provider – you will follow the steps above and enter your code in the Order Summary box in your cart. The one-time use of your individual code will take your purchase to $0 (0£ or €0) and you can complete your transaction.
Step Two: Scheduling Your ISC2 Exam
After completing the checkout process, you’ll navigate to the Courses and Exams section of your ISC2 Dashboard. Here you will see any previously purchased or completed exams, as well as courses you have purchased directly from ISC2. Your newly purchased exam will have a button next to it that says “Schedule.” Click that and you’ll be prompted to complete the ISC2 Exam Account Information form.
When you’re completing this form, please be sure that all the information is exactly as it appears on the ID you will be bringing to the test center. If the information does not match, you will not be permitted to sit for your exam.
After you submit your form, you’ll be redirected to the Pearson VUE website to find a test center in your area, choose your exam day and time and set the date!
Rescheduling Your ISC2 Exam
Plans change, work projects pop up, family priorities shift. We understand that your first selected date for your ISC2 exam might need to be adjusted. If that’s the case, you’ll come back to your Courses and Exams page in your Dashboard and click “Reschedule” on the exam you need to adjust.
Keep in mind there is a $50 rescheduling fee for all exams except for the CC exam.
There is a 365-day policy in effect for all ISC2 exams that limits the window in which you can reschedule. Keep this time frame in mind when scheduling your initial exam date.
