While we all know proper planning can lead to success, your ISC2 examination schedule may not always go as expected. From falling ill to not passing on the first attempt, there’s a guideline for any situation.
Don’t let the bumps in the road get you down, your certification success is just around the corner.
Rescheduling Your ISC2 Exam
Advance Notice: Should something come up more than two days (48 hours) before your scheduled exam, you can reschedule or cancel your exam online. Find the steps and link here: isc2.org/exams/manage-your-exam
Late Notice: If you are between one day (24 hours) and 48 hours before your exam, you can still reschedule. In this case, however, you will need to contact Pearson VUE by phone. This helps to quickly connect you with someone who can manage this last-minute change. Regional customer service numbers can be found at: home.pearsonvue.com/isc2/contact
For all rescheduled exams:
- You may only reschedule within one year (365 days) of your original exam date. This means if you booked your initial exam for May 1, 2024, you cannot reschedule your exam beyond May 1, 2025. If you do not comply with this timeline, your exam registration fee will be forfeited.
- For ISC2 certification exams, Pearson VUE charges a U.S. $50 fee to reschedule. However, those participating in ISC2’s One Million Pledge sitting for the Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) exam for the first time do not pay fees for rescheduling.
Exam Day Mishaps
What if I’m late? You are expected to arrive 30 minutes before your exam time for check-in. You'll be considered late if you arrive less than 15 minutes prior to the exam time on the day of your appointment. As a late arrival, you may have to forfeit your assigned seat. Pearson VUE will attempt to accommodate you. However, if the schedule does not permit, you’ll be turned away and considered a no-show and your exam registration fee will be forfeited.
What if I don’t have a proper identification (ID) or my name does not match the booking? You will not be permitted to sit for the exam without showing two forms of ID at check-in. The first and last name on your ID must exactly match the first and last name that you used to register with Pearson VUE. To be sure, you can review and update your name up to two days (48 hours) prior to your exam appointment by logging into your account . If you are closer than 48 hours before your exam and have not been able to resolve your naming differences, we recommend rescheduling. Name changes cannot be made on your test day, including at the test center. If you cannot meet the ID requirements on your exam day, you will be considered a no-show. Acceptable forms of ID and more information can be found here: isc2.org/exams/exam-day
Canceling Your ISC2 Exam
If you find you will not be able to sit for the exam within the one-year rescheduling window, you can cancel your ISC2 exam. To do so, the above timelines of 48 hours or more for online cancelation or 24 hours or more for phone cancelations apply. Those taking the CC exam do not pay a fine for canceling. For all other certifications, Pearson VUE charges a U.S. $100 fee to cancel.
No-Show
Those who did not sit for their exam at the scheduled time will appear in the system as a no-show. These candidates will forfeit their exam fee.
How soon after a no-show can I register and sit the exam? Yes, there is no waiting period required to reschedule your exam once your initial appointment has passed. However, a new exam registration fee is required. If your CC exam is free through participating in the ISC2 One Million Certified in Cybersecurity scheme and you miss your initial appointment, you will need to pay the exam fee when you reschedule.
