In the first of our new series of ISC2 podcasts, we meet Kwadjo Nyante, CISSP, a 2023 ISC2 GAA winner and Center for Cyber Safety and Education scholarship recipient, to learn more about his journey to a cybersecurity career.

The ISC2 Podcast is a regular series of interviews and discussions with members and key people in and around the cybersecurity industry where we find out more about their career stories, experiences, emerging cybersecurity challenges and technologies and more. The podcast is a forum to share new ideas and broaden the conversation within the ISC2 membership and with the wider cybersecurity community.

For our inaugural episode of this series, we bring you an inspiring member story that showcases self-determination to advance in our industry, combined with making use of the resources available to support those seeking the education and professional development needed to excel in a career in our industry.

Recorded at ISC2 Security Congress in Nashville, Kwadjo Nyante, CISSP took time out from the busy Congress schedule to talk to us about his education and career journey. Orignally from Ghana, Nyante is a two-time ISC2 graduate scholarship award recipient via the Center for Cyber Safety and Education.

He has a BSc in Computer Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, an MSc in Cybersecurity and Privacy from the University of Twente, a Master’s in Advanced Cryptography from Eötvös Loránd University and another Master’s in Security and Trust from EIT Digital. His education and career journey has taken him from Ghana to Holland, Hungary, Portugal and Germany, where is he now a CISO for a company specializing in AI-powered precision diagnostics for pathology.

Kwadjo understands what it means to have ability without opportunity which has led to his biggest passion: giving back to the industry and community through coaching, mentorship, public speaking, and DEI initiatives. He is a lead guitarist in a Berlin band and recently reached a chess rating of 2000 in just two years. It’s little surprise that he was recognized as the Rising Star in EMEA as part of the 2023 ISC2 Global Achievement Awards.
