Nominations are open for the ISC2 Board of Directors. If you’re interested in serving as a Board member, this is your opportunity to nominate yourself for election!

What do Board members do?

The ISC2 Board of Directors is made up of certified ISC2 members who volunteer their time and expertise to help guide our association forward. The Board is responsible for providing strategic direction, as well as governance and oversight to ISC2. They develop policies and procedures, grant certifications and enforce the ISC2 Code of Ethics. The Board of Directors meets for quarterly for Board meetings – attended by ISC2 management. These are held in-person three times each year, with one virtual meeting. There are other virtual meetings or conference calls throughout the year to attend to committee or other matters.

What is the Board looking for in nominees?

The Board appoints the Nominations Committee to manage the nominations process. The Committee comprises ISC2 Board of Directors members, and certified-ISC2 members. The committee is looking for ISC2 members in good standing with experience across a range of skillsets such as:

  • Deep knowledge of and experience with the ISC2 membership and wider professionals
  • Experience stewarding a growing, global organization, in particular experience with Board or organizational governance
  • Established record of leadership, experience supporting development and implementation of strategy
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills, with strong innovative and creative perspective
  • A global mindset and cultural awareness
  • Knowledge of business finance, budgeting and reporting

Board members need to be able to listen actively, analyze objectively, and collaborate with others. Importantly, Board members need to be aware of, and comfortable with, the time commitment serving on any Board requires, with a requirement for collaboration across all global time zones. As with our current Board of Directors, it is important that directors represent the organization with the utmost professionalism, cultivate ISC2's growth, and look to the future by recruiting and mentoring future Board members and other volunteers.

How can I nominate myself?

The Board of Directors is excited to offer an open call for nominations to the membership. This is only the second year in which members have been able to apply directly for Board candidacy.

You can find the Board Nominations form online . You’ll need to provide the following with your nomination:

  • Personal background information
  • Résumé or CV
  • Two letters of recommendation

The nominations form itself contains an open questionnaire that you must complete, including how you will provide direction and support the organization, as well as a description of your previous service experiences with other organizations.

All nominations must be completed and submitted by June 14. If you have questions about this process, the Nominations Committee will host a live webinar this week – Wednesday, May 25 at 8:00 a.m. ET – to explain more about the process and answer your questions.

We hope you will join us live, but if you’re unable to, you can register and will receive the recording on-demand to watch. If you have questions for the committee, you can submit them via the form online .
