A Safe and Secure World

At ISC2, advocacy is more than a mission; it's about action. Our global program amplifies the recognition of ISC2 certifications as a valuable aspect of promoting and maintaining a skilled and appropriately sized cybersecurity workforce. We channel the priorities of our members to policymakers, ensuring your voice is heard across jurisdictions and sectors.

We advocate for the profession, our members and recognition of ISC2 certifications in the following ways:

Global Issues
We raise critical global issues to shape policy, regulatory frameworks and legislation on behalf of ISC2 members.
Cybersecurity Professionals
We promote certified cybersecurity professionals worldwide as essential to ensuring a safe and secure digital world — now and in the future.
Trusted Advisors
We serve as a trusted advisor to policymakers, regulators and industry leaders across jurisdictions.
Relevant Partnerships
We partner with governments, international standards bodies and global institutions to keep cybersecurity — and a skilled, credentialed and right-sized cybersecurity workforce — a top priority.

Advocating for Members Across Our Policy Agenda

Our members are at the heart of everything we do. While we operate across global jurisdictions, and issues, we focus on centers of cybersecurity policy that most impact our membership and the wider cybersecurity profession. Accordingly, we champion influence in hyper-local initiatives such as state-level in the U.S, as well as in supra-national frameworks across the E.U., Australia, ASEAN and federal-government levels.

Our current advocacy efforts prioritize the following areas:

We take a 360° view of this issue on a global scale and use ISC2 workforce research based on surveys of members and other cybersecurity professionals to inform our advocacy efforts across jurisdictions. Our goal is to influence policies that:

  • Increase the number of people entering the cybersecurity workforce.
  • Ensure governmental recognition of the importance to both national and international security of a cyber workforce that is appropriately sized, composed and skilled to meet rapidly evolving challenges.
  • Create the right environment for a well-qualified cybersecurity workforce to successfully implement forward-looking policies based on their skills and knowledge as validated through rigorous certification programs, including ISC2’s nine globally recognized certifications.

Raising Awareness of Our Members’ Perspectives

We bring real-world practitioner insights to policy conversations. Our goal is to ensure that your practical challenges as cybersecurity professionals inform the guidance and decisions made at the agency, regulatory and legislative levels. Consultations include:
