    David Shearer, CISSP, Chief Executive Officer

    As (ISC)² Chief Executive Officer, David is responsible for the overall direction and management of the organization and its Center for Cyber Safety and Education.

    David has more than 30 years of business experience including as the:

    • Chief operating officer for (ISC)²
    • Associate chief information officer for International Technology Services at the U.S. Department of Agriculture
    • Deputy chief information officer at the U.S. Department of the Interior
    • Executive for architecture, engineering and technical services at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
    David has been responsible for managing and providing services via international IT infrastructures. He has implemented large-scale SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) projects. He has led large geographically separated staffs that support global solutions. David holds a B.S. from Park College, an M.S. from Syracuse University, and management and technical certificates from the U.S. National Defense University. 

    David is a U.S. federal executive presidential rank award recipient. 

    Wes Simpson
    Wesley Simpson, Chief Operating Officer

    As our COO, Wesley oversees the operational aspects of contracts with all business partners. He collaborates with our Chief Executive Officer and senior management to support (ISC)² programs and services. He’s also responsible for the development and implementation of a business template for the regional offices. 

    Wesley has more than 25 years of business experience including positions in IT, product management, policy and procedure development, budgeting, vendor negotiations, and client development and relationships for Turner Broadcasting System, Delta Airlines, Bank of America, IBM and Fidelity Investments. 

    Wesley has been responsible for leading the development of IT organizations and global services, while also working in the field of software development and digital asset management for various Fortune 500 companies. 

    Wesley holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts and various technical certifications.

    Debra Taylor CFO
    Debra Taylor, Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

    As our CFO, Debra is responsible for all financial and management reporting, executing the budgeting process, overseeing investments and all human resource functions, and operating as the Contract Officer.

    Debra has more than 30 years of business experience including positions as Senior Vice President, Corporate Controller and CFO of the America’s Operations for the former global public company Danka Business Systems PLC. 

    Debra has extensive business experience in accounting, finance, acquisitions and mergers. She directed all financial and operational reporting and results along with the re-engineering of the infrastructure and controls of the key business processes at Danka Business Systems PLC. 

    Prior to working with Danka, Debra was the Western Regional Business Manager for Storer Communications, Inc. and Assistant Controller for J. R. Norton Company. 

    Debra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Michigan State University. She is a former Board Member and Finance Chair of Goodwill-Industries Suncoast. 

    Debra also serves as the CFO for (ISC)²’s Center for Cyber Safety and Education.

    Graham Jackson
    Graham Jackson, General Counsel

    Graham joined (ISC)² in 2013. He serves as an agent for (ISC)² in regards to all legal matters, liabilities and rights. His duties include:

    • Overseeing domestic and international corporate reporting and compliance with government regulations.
    • The registration and protection of (ISC)² intellectual property.
    • Drafting and negotiating transactional documents.
    • Managing (ISC)²’s outside counsel and developing strategy for litigation.
    • Overseeing the (ISC)² Board of Directors elections.
    Graham also works closely with the business teams to identify positive outcomes for (ISC)² and its members and partners around the world. 

    Graham holds a Juris Doctor and Master of Accountancy from Samford University, as well as a B.B.A in Accounting and B.A. in History from the University of Georgia. He is a member of the Florida Bar.

    Bruce Beam
    Bruce Beam, CISSP, Chief Information Officer and Vice President

    Bruce has over 20 years of Information Security, IT and business experience in large and small companies.  His experience spans from the deck plate up to executive levels defining strategy, innovation, integration, and automation with a core tenant of security.    

    Bruce's experience in the United States Navy enabled him to engage in multiple disciplines for worldwide operations with both military and civilian counterparts. Bruce lead numerous worldwide initiatives while in the US Navy and with Citibank before leading all Information Security at CoreSite. While at CoreSite, he was responsible for all aspects of information security and IT infrastructure enabling unprecedented up time and security posture with a defense-in-depth approach.  

    Bruce is a CISSP and CISM and holds a Master of Information Technology and Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Jacksonville University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Valdosta State University.

    Casey Marks
    Dr. Casey Marks, Chief Product Officer and Vice President

    Casey’s responsibilities are inclusive of (ISC)² product vision, strategy, design, development and delivery. He serves as the lead executive developing psychometrically sound and legally defensible information security certifications that advance the mission and vision of (ISC)². ². 

    With 20 years of experience in large-scale assessment, Casey has published and presented extensively. He is recognized as an expert on issues related to adoption and vendor transition of Computer-Based-Testing for high-stakes, large-scale testing programs, international program expansion and examination security.

    Casey has a long history of involvement and volunteer service with testing-related organizations such as:

    • American Education Research Association (AERA)
    • American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
    • Council on Licensure, Education, and Regulation (CLEAR)
    • Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE)
    • International Test Commission (ITC)
    • The National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME)

    Casey served as an invited expert for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Working Group for the Revision of ISO/IEC 17024 and is a past president of the Association of Test Publishers (ATP).

    Casey holds a B.S. degree from the University of Illinois and a PhD in Measurement, Evaluation and Statistical Analysis from the University of Chicago. He is a Certified Association Executive (CAE).


    Greg Clawson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing
    Greg Clawson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing

    Greg has more than 20 years of experience leading global sales teams selling solutions in the public and commercial marketplace. His experience includes developing business strategies, budgets and sales objectives, as well as leading and building sales and marketing teams.

    Greg served in the U.S. Air Force as a metrologist before working for the nonprofit Battelle Memorial Institute, where he started and ran the software improvement program that enabled the software organization to receive a high score on the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). He went on to lead the operations group and eventually transitioned to sales. Greg then worked at Matrics, which was acquired by Symbol Technologies and then Motorola, before joining IoT start-up Time Domain, Inc. as its Senior Vice President Global Sales and Marketing.

    Most recently, Greg was the Senior Vice President, Aerospace Defense and Manufacturing Sales at Upskill – an augmented reality software-as-a-service platform start-up company – where he developed the annual business strategy, budgets and sales objectives.

    Greg holds a bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management, Accounting from Park University and earned an MBA from University of Dayton.

    Clayton Jones
    Clayton Jones, Managing Director, Asia-Pacific

    Clayton has been involved in the professional education services industry for more than a decade in the U.S. and Asia. His experience spans business unit management, and mergers and acquisitions, including corporate restructuring.  

    Based at (ISC)² regional headquarters in Hong Kong, Clayton is responsible for the overall operations of (ISC)² in the region and supporting the organization's vision.  

    Clayton has led the establishment of (ISC)² offices in Japan, China and most recently India. He also works with different government agencies and corporations advising on workforce development within the information security profession.  

    Clayton is a regular speaker at information security events in India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines and Hong Kong.  

    Clayton has a B.Com from Calcutta University and a PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management (Calcutta).  

    In April 2009, Clayton received the Membership Growth and Support Award during the (ISC)² 20th Anniversary Founders Celebration in recognition of his contributions to the development and growth of (ISC)² credentials and the profession in the Asia-Pacific region.

    Deshini Newman, Managing Director, EMEA

    Deshini heads the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) team for (ISC)². Her responsibilities include developing and implementing a strategy for the EMEA region and supporting the (ISC)² global vision and mission. Within EMEA, she is responsible for building relationships, driving new opportunities and supporting the marketing, PR and communications function to develop and maintain (ISC)² brands and support both business development and member service objectives.

    Before Joining (ISC)2, Deshini held several leadership roles at Edexcel International, Pearson Group, a FTSE 100 education company, and most recently at Cambridge Assessment English, where she held positions such as Global Manager of Strategy, Assistant Director, Global Business Development and Global Head of Higher Education and Adult Sector. Cambridge Assessment English has provided English language assessments and qualifications since 1913, and is part of Cambridge Assessment Group, Cambridge University (UK). As a senior member of staff, she was on the leadership group of Cambridge English and a member of the Regent House, the official governing body of the University of Cambridge.

    Deshini holds an MA from the University of Cambridge, a degree in commercial law, an MSc in Teaching English for Specific Purposes, an MBA in Publishing and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

    Patrick Craven
    Patrick Craven, Director, Center for Cyber Safety and Education

    Patrick has more than 30 years of experience working within the non-profit industry. He has held various C-Level executive leadership roles across the country at notable charitable organizations, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and the Boy Scouts of America. 

    As Director for the Center for Cyber Safety and Education, Patrick is responsible for:

    • All business operations
    • Supporting the Board of Trustees
    • Service delivery
    • Providing leadership to employees and volunteers
    • Managing multiple income streams
    • Overseeing marketing and business development functions
    • New program development 
    • Liaising with external agencies
    Patrick has been successful across the country developing innovative and award-winning marketing, advertising, sales, management and fundraising programs. 

    Patrick has a BS in Communication from Xavier University (Cincinnati, OH).

    john mccumber
    John McCumber, Director, Cybersecurity Advocacy for North America

    Mr. McCumber is a retired U.S. Air Force officer and former Cryptologic Fellow of the National Security Agency. During his military career, Mr. McCumber served in the Defense Information Systems Agency and on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon as Information Warfare Officer during the Persian Gulf War. Mr. McCumber recently served as Chair of the TechAmerica Cybersecurity Committee. For eight years, he was a Professorial Lecturer in Information Security at The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and is currently a technical editor and columnist for Security Technology Executive magazine. Mr. McCumber is the author of the textbook "Assessing and Managing Security Risk in IT Systems: A Structured Methodology" from Auerbach Publications. Recently, Mr. McCumber served as the interim CISO for a post-breach Federal contractor. 

    Mr. McCumber holds a Master of Business Administration from Western New England University. He has current and former faculty status with: the National Cryptologic School, Defense Intelligence College, DoD Security Institute, Eastern Michigan University and The George Washington University.  Mr. McCumber holds numerous certifications from the National Cryptologic School, the DoD Security Institute and the Defense Intelligence College among others.

    During his career, Mr McCumber has held security clearances with the National Security Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency, and The Joint Staff, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Pentagon. 

    Tony Vizza

    Tony Vizza, Director, Cybersecurity Advocacy for Asia-Pacific

    Mr. Vizza has been involved in the information technology and information security fields for more than 25 years. His information security credentials include CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) and he is a certified ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor. He has also taught and mentored young and aspiring information security students through Victoria University and TAFE New South Wales (NSW) in association with Infoxchange.

    Mr. Vizza is a longstanding member of the Australian Information Security Association (AISA) and has provided expert services to the Australian Government’s Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), the Law Society of NSW, the Australian Security Industry Association Limited (ASIAL) as well as numerous boards, and is an expert speaker on information security.

    Mr. Vizza is a contributor to CSO Magazine, Security Insider Magazine, Australian Reseller News (ARN), Channel Reseller News (CRN) and Lifehacker regarding information security, business and channel strategy.

    Mr. Vizza has an accomplished, business, technical and engineering background, having completed a Bachelor of Science in Computing Science from the University of Technology, Sydney, and recently completed his Global Executive MBA from the University of Sydney which included study at Stanford University, The London School of Economics and the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. He is currently studying for a Juris Doctor degree at the University of New South Wales.

    Raykhan Bekimbetova
    Raykhan Bekimbetova, Controller

    Raykhan Bekimbetova joined (ISC)² in 2009 and has served the organization in various accounting roles. She was promoted to the role of Controller in 2019. She is responsible for the organization’s finance and accounting functions. She oversees the activities of the finance department such as financial reporting, budgeting, establishing and maintaining appropriate internal controls, ensuring the abidance by all applicable regulations and policies. Raykhan provides information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that assist management, executives and board members in making educated economic decisions about the company's future.

    Prior to joining (ISC)² Raykhan worked for number of USAID funded projects in Uzbekistan in the Accounting Manager capacity. She has a B.S. in Accounting from Tashkent Finance Institute and an MBA from Schiller International University.

    Tim Campo serves as the Director of Applications, Architecture and Security for (ISC)²
    Tim Campo, Director, Applications, Architecture and Security

    Tim Campo serves as the Director of Applications, Architecture and Security for (ISC)². He provides day to day oversight for automation efforts at the organization, as well as thought leadership in regards to operational processes, efficiencies and addressing challenges.

    Tim has more than 20 years of information and physical security, software development, and business experience in large and small companies. His experience spans from the deck plate up to executive levels defining strategy, innovation, integration and automation with a core tenant of security.

    Tim’s experience in the United States Navy enabled him to engage in multiple disciplines for worldwide operations with both military and civilian counterparts. Tim led numerous worldwide initiatives while in the U.S. Navy. While at CoreSite as Vice President of Security, he was responsible for many aspects of information and physical security across 20 data center locations, and software development efforts enabling unprecedented up time, high security posture, and delivering business system solutions enabling the company sales and support objectives.

    Tim is a CISSP and CISM and holds a Master’s degree in Information Assurance/Information Technology from the University of Maryland University College. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from The Citadel.

    Mirtha Collin Director of Education  at (ISC)²
    Mirtha Collin, Director, Education

    Mirtha Collin joined (ISC)² in February 2016, as the Senior Manager of Education before becoming Director of Education in 2019. Previously, Mirtha served as Executive Director of Enrollment and Program Management for Innovative Education at the University of South Florida (USF), the university's thriving online learning, continuing education, degree completion, and workforce development initiative. In this capacity, she was responsible for identifying new markets, working with faculty and instructional design staff to develop relevant and in demand courses and programs, recruiting students, managing student support services, and supporting logistics around program execution and delivery.

    Prior to joining USF, Mirtha held a number of positions at Harvard University. Her work as a Senior Project Manager for Harvard’s Office of the President and Provost entailed close consultation and collaboration with senior-level administrators to, among other important projects, engender positive and effective relationships with faculty, as well as conceive and prepare presentations, reports, and various additional communications for both internal and external audiences. Mirtha also served as Senior Campus Planner with Harvard’s Allston Development Group. A graduate of Wellesley College, Mirtha earned a BA in Psychology and went on to receive a Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning at University of California at Berkeley.

    Sommer Hess, Director of (ISC)²’s Project Management Office, Software Quality Assurance and IT Training
    Sommer Hess, Director, PMO, Quality and Training

    Sommer Hess is the Director of (ISC)²’s Project Management Office, Software Quality Assurance and IT Training. She originally joined the organization in August 2013, as the Senior Manager of Project Execution. She is responsible for (ISC)²’s overall project management function, providing leadership, integration and management of PMO processes and functions to improve the consistency and efficiency of project delivery. Sommer oversees all aspects of quality and business improvement efforts, such as developing and administrating programs, training and coaching employees, and facilitating change. She is responsible for establishing strategic plans, policies and procedures at all levels to ensure quality improvement efforts and risk levels will meet or exceed needs and expectations.

    Sommer is an experienced portfolio and program manager with a history of working in the information technology, manufacturing and services industry. She previously worked for Raytheon as a Manufacturing Manager where she learned Six Sigma skills and managed projects to streamline manufacturing and test communications for the United States Navy. Before that, Sommer was a Regulation Program Manager for Southwest Florida Water Management District. She is skilled in Agile and Waterfall Project Management methodology, Operations Management, Business Process Improvement, Performance Management, Quality Assurance, and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

    Sommer has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management. She has led two multi-year enterprise wide digital transformation initiatives in two different organizations that has allowed her to hone her organizational change management and cultural change skillsets.
