(ISC)² Digital Badges from Acclaim

Digital Badges from Acclaim

What is a Digital Badge?

A digital badge is a simple way for you to share you credential online. You can attach your badge to a website, email signature, or social network, and with one simple click, employers and other interested parties can easily view and verify your credential and the skills and experience required to earn it.

Why Do You Need a Digital Badge?

Digital badges keep your credentials up-to-date in a web-based world. With digital badges, you never have to make an employer wait while you find your member number, call a phone number, or fill out mandatory fields in an online form; you simply provide them a one-click verification of your certification and skills.

When someone clicks the link corresponding to your (ISC)² digital badge, an overview page is presented on the Acclaim site, and will look like this:

Claim my badge

Q:

When will I get my badge?

A:

If you have recently earned your certification, the email notification to claim your badge will be sent to you within two weeks of earning the certification. If you have not received your badge email invitation, please contact badges@isc2.org.

Q:

If I hold multiple (ISC)² credentials, can I claim a badge for each one?

A:

Yes, all (ISC)² certification badges are available. You will be able to claim an electronic badge for each active credential you hold.

Q:

How does my credential get displayed as an Open Badge

A:

(ISC)² has partnered with Acclaim, a badging platform backed by Pearson VUE, to translate the certification status you’ve earned into a digital badge. The technology Acclaim uses is based on the Open Badge standards defined by Mozilla and enable you to manage, share and verify your credential digitally.

Q:

Who is Acclaim?

A:

Acclaim is a product of Pearson VUE. Acclaim works with credible organizations to provide digital credentials to individuals. Acclaim is an enterprise-class badging platform that enables organizations to issue professional credentials digitally. Acclaim allows its users to:

  • Document skills, experiences and learning in a way that's verifiable for employers, schools, or clients.
  • Promote credentials and accomplishments via relevant social channels and email to help you start a career, obtain a new job, or grow in your current industry.
Q:

What is the relationship between (ISC)² and Acclaim?

A:

(ISC)² has entered into a vendor relationship with Acclaim to implement a program for web-enabled credentials and certificates displayed as open badges. Acclaim is the website where you claim (accept), store and transmit open badges related to your credentials, and where anyone that needs to verify your achievement can go to do so, quickly and easily.

Q:

What if I do not want my credentials to be public?

A:

You’re in complete control of the information about yourself that’s made public. All information regarding you and your credentials can be easily configured in your Acclaim account.

Q:

What is to keep someone from copying my badge and using it?

A:

While badges are simply digital image files, they are uniquely linked to data hosted on the Acclaim platform. This link to verified data makes them more reliable and secure than a traditional paper-based credential. It also eliminates the possibility of anyone claiming your credential and your associated identity.

Q:

Can I include open badges on my resume or LinkedIn profile?

A:

Absolutely. Every certification and profile on the Acclaim platform has a unique URL that can be embedded on a resume or website. The platform also offers seamless integration with several popular social and professional networking platforms for the display of certifications as open badges. Sharing to LinkedIn enables the earner to permanently display the achievement within their profile with single click verification. In order to display your badge on your LinkedIn profile, log in to Acclaim, select the badge you would like displayed on LinkedIn and then select share. The site will then walk you through connecting to LinkedIn and a series of confirmation steps. Please note that when a certification is referenced in a LinkedIn profile, an image of the (ISC)² logo is displayed online, not the actual badge image.

Q:

Why does my badge not display perfectly on my screen?

A:

Older browsers are not compatible with the Acclaim site; they do not support Acclaim's features and modern site design. You are strongly encouraged to use newer browsers for the best user experience and to avoid inherent security concerns known to exist in older browser versions. Internet Explorer users should use IE9 or higher, or one of the other high-performance browsers (Firefox 4+, Google Chrome, Safari 6+).

Q:

Who should I contact if there are issues with my (ISC)² badge?

A:

If your question relates to the status of your certification, please contact badges@isc2.org. If your question relates to the Acclaim web site, please contact Acclaim support.
