(ISC)² Launches First Country-Specific Credential to Meet Growing Demand for Qualified Information Security Professionals
Japan Government Information Security Professional (JGISPCM) to Replace CISSP-ISSJP and Become Stand-Alone Credential
Tokyo, Sept. 3, 2009 – (ISC)²® (“ISC-squared”), the not-for-profit global leader in educating and certifying information security professionals throughout their careers, today announced it will offer its first country-specific, stand-alone credential, the Japan Government Information Security Professional (JGISP). JGISP is designed to validate a candidate’s knowledge, skills and abilities in IT security, especially focused on the government environment and regulations in Japan. (ISC)² developed the JGISP through a partnership with the Japan Network Security Association (JNSA), a non-profit organization that promotes network security standardization in Japan. (ISC)² will begin offering the JGISP examination on September 13 and official JGISP CBK® Review Seminar on November 5 and 6th, 2009.
Recent research from around the globe has shown a trend in the shortage of IT security professionals, as well as an increased need for industry professionals. Under the execution program of “Information Security Basic Plan II” issued by the National Information Security Center (NISC) of Japan Government in February 2009, the position of Chief Information Security Adviser will be placed at all government ministries in order to improve security management at PDCA ("Plan-Do-Check-Act") cycle. As the importance of securing the government has increased, so has the IT environment. To ensure the quality of not only government employees, but also contractors, qualified employees are becoming top priority. The JGISP is an ideal credential for nurturing the information security workforce for the government sector in Japan.

Thanks to the assistance from JNSA, we were able to develop a credential that suits the Japanese government’s needs.”

Ethics and Customs: Japan-specific ethics standards and commercial customs; foster the understanding of laws and regulations in Japan. 4. Technology: Technology specifically deployed in central and local governments, overview of IT networks and infrastructure in government environment in Japan. |
